One box of ready made pani puri shells. One jar of date and tamarind chutney. A box of pani spice mix. Boiled chickpeas and diced potatoes. Finely diced onion. Chopped coriander.
I love putting together this classic Indian snack: punch a hole in the hollow shell (the puri), fill with stuff, dip in the spicy water (the pani) and gobble whole. It’s a good and quick TV dinner!

Oh gosh!! I love Pani Puri! I only had them recently in Mumbai and it is now my favourite snack! Where do you get the puri from?

I buy a big box of them from Southall! Do check other Indian neighbourhoods in London. Otherwise there are a few recipes for them online.

I didn’t know you could buy the shells! What a wonderful snack. I’ve never understood them as street food though, because I make a dribbly mess when I eat them.

Aaaah Pani Puri, how I love Pani Puri! I have funny memories of eating these in India. My boyfriend was worried about the hygiene of this particular stall so I went ahead and asked for it. They give them to you one by one.. I’ve never felt so greedy as he stood there and waited for me to eat 6, one after the other. They sell the shells in Brick Lane, really cheap.
